ASID Carolinas Fall Conference Update

By Margot Olson, ASID

The ASID Carolinas Fall Conference is still in the planning stages. With so much uncertainty regarding the possibility of congregating in a large group, the Carolinas Board and I have decided, for now, to plan a virtual event to be held on the same date, September 18th.

Due to the continued growth of Covid-19 cases in both Carolinas and the prediction of a second wave of the virus emerging in the fall, placing large numbers of our members in a precarious position of being together seems impossible. Until now, the Carolinas Board and I have focused our conference planning from a more positive view with the thoughts that we could actually have a hybrid event with those who wanted to attend in person and those who wanted to attend virtually. At this point, we are stepping back and planning for a virtual event—better to work on what is possible and enhance if the situation improves.

Our weekly updates will begin to include announcements of our plans, likely starting in mid-July. In the interim, mark your calendars for September 18th. Currently, the agenda includes a state-of-the chapter presentation, chapter awards and citations, and the Excellent in Design award presentation. The possibility of having several other types of events where members could mingle online is under consideration. Thanks to all of you who responded to our recent chapter survey about the Fall Conference, we value your feedback.
