Legislative Win for NC Designers!

Earlier this month, Senate Bill 188, which permits NC interior designers, through voluntary registration, to stamp and seal construction documents for permit, passed both the North Carolina Senate and House and was signed into law by Governor Roy Cooper on July 8, 2021. The new law sends a strong message to all that interior designers play a critical role in the state’s economy and in ensuring the health and safety of buildings.

This accomplishment, which is the first to pass in the US, was made possible with the collaboration and support from the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the AxD Council, and the countless grassroots advocates, including ASID Carolinas’ Government Affairs Committee Co-Chairs Susan Carson and Emmy Williams, who all joined together with ASID to make this possible!
