NCDOR Speaks with Members: January 11 Sales and Use Tax Basics
On January 11, the Eastern Region of the Design Community met via Zoom to discuss sales and use tax implications as they pertain to the interior design business. The seminar was led by representatives from the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Topics included:
- When and on what to charge sales tax.
- How to determine tax rates to charge for the county and city in which the sale is being transacted.
- Affidavits of Capital Improvements.
- Certificates of Exemption.
- Repair versus maintenance and which gets taxed.
- Fabricated articles.
- And more!
